Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. - (Nov. 19, 2007)
Specialty Hospitals of America, LLC, (SHA) has named Gary L. Rowe as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Washington, D.C. The hospital has also named Barry L. Harding as Chief Financial Officer.

Gary L. Rowe earned a Masters degree in hospital administration from George Washington University, and he has worked in recent years with hospitals that were in need of rapid improvement and development expertise. Under his leadership, distressed hospitals have made rapid progress and earned industry accreditations and honors. Gary has been CEO at hospitals in Florida, Indiana, Kansas and Missouri.

Barry L. Harding is a CPA with an MBA in finance from the University of Houston and a BS in Accounting from LSU. He has over 25 years of multi-hospital experience, most recently with Triad Hospitals, Inc., until its recent merger with another for-profit system. While a Triad he was responsible for the financial operations of facilities in Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Alaska.

SHA acquired Greater Southeast Community Hospital (GSCH) from Envision Hospital Corporation on Nov. 7, 2007 in a transaction that included financial consideration by the District of Columbia city council for community medical services that the hospital will now be able to provide under new ownership and management.

"Gary has a proven track record for hospital turn-around success," said SHA president Eric F. Rieseberg, "and we are placing all of our corporate SHA resources at his disposal to initiate and execute the ambitious redevelopment plans we will orchestrate at Greater Southeast."

SHA has made a commitment to the District government to redevelop the GSCH facility into a vertically integrated health care campus over the next three years. Services will include primary health care (physician offices), out-patient surgery, out-patient health screening, radiology, cardiology and ambulatory services. Expanded in-patient services are expected to include an in-patient psychiatric hospital, a 150-bed skilled nursing facility, a long term critical care hospital and in-patient geriatric psychiatric services. This business model will ensure that the companies and practices operating each module of care are the most effective for the service each provides.

Mr. Rowe and Mr. Harding will have offices located on the Greater Southeast Community Hospital campus. The telephone number to reach the hospital's corporate offices is (202) 574-6000.
