Hadley Nursing Center Teams with Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School for Healing Walls Project

WASHINGTON, DC MAY 17, 2012: The Hadley Nursing Center at the Specialty Hospital Of Washington (SHW), joined forces with 4th and 5th grade students at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in the Healing Walls Student Art Exhibit.

The Healing Walls project was developed by Cheron McNear, Marketing Coordinator for Specialty Hospital of Washington, and is designed to provide the patients and residents in our facility with uplifting artwork that will inspire and assist them in their healing process. The students were led by their art teacher, Mr. Bryan, who directed the theme of the artwork around healing scenes in nature. “I wanted the students to take away from this project that healing is not so much something that happens, but an understanding that health is connected with the physical, emotional and spiritual processes. I think the students did a marvelous job with this project and I am sure that the residents, staff and their families will appreciate this art wall”, said Cheron McNear. The student’s artwork was unveiled at a special ceremony on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Specialty Hospital of Washington-Hadley campus. Guest speaker was local artist Luis Peralta.
